50th Anniversary Gala Event - 2018

Gala Dec 1st 2018 1ST

President’s Speech, Dr. Urmilesh Arya,

Dr. Urmilesh Arya welcomed everyone for participating in the 50th anniversary Gala event and gave a Silent Tribute to late President George W Bush. Dr. Arya said “This celebration is a special occasion of remembrance and reflection of a time to revisit the vision of Founders. We are proud of our past accomplishments and are aware of the future challenges. For those who chose to leave the shores of India, America was the leader in Scientific and Technological advances in the world.

Indian community has emerged as a front runner among Immigrant groups as measured by educational achievements and per capita income, though community has been here for two generations only.

Our culture stresses the importance of religious freedom, acceptance of new ideas and belief in diversity. Our commitment to truth, nonviolence and pluralism represents a world view that has come down to us as an unbroken tradition for thousands of years.
We have responsibilities, and have to take charge of our destiny. We cannot let anyone decide, what is good for us, neither can we allow any group to define what we should hope to achieve as individuals or as community. At the same time, our success should not be on the back of any other group. We have to participate actively and effectively in all disciplines.

I am so proud to say that four Indian Americans have been elected to congress. I am also excited about the next generation of Indian Americans. I hope the emphasis our culture has placed on education, honesty, generosity, tolerance, and hard work will influence and guide the way they conduct their lives.”
